Early Career Researcher (ECR) programme
EuroSense 2026 will host a dedicated programme for Early Career Researchers (ECRs), designed to increase visibility, foster networking, and support professional development for those at the early stages of their careers*.
The activities are organised by the E3S Next Generation Working Group (POC: Saumya Sood and Ansung Kim), the Norwegian Sensory Network (POC: Mads Erling Pedersen, Mats Carlehøg), and the European Sensory Science Society (POC: Prof. Rebecca Ford).
The ECR programme at Eurosense 2026 will include:
1. E3S Eurosense Student Award 2026, featuring oral presentations from E3S Eurosense Student Award 2026 winners, 11:00-11:10, Thursday, 10 September 2026 followed by
2. E3S PhD Student Award Session, 11:10-12:30, Thursday, 10 September 2026, where the award winners will showcase they work.
3. Emerging Talent Spotlight Talks/ Posters, showcasing outstanding contributions from early-career researchers and young professionals in the field from all over the world, selected among the most highly ranked in each category. These presentations, identified by special spotlight logos during the session, highlight innovative ideas, promising research, and emerging perspectives across sensory and consumer science. The initiative aims to recognise and promote new talent within the scientific community while fostering visibility, networking, and interdisciplinary exchange.
4. ECR Social Event, a great chance to network, enjoy good food, and have fun

*Early stage of career is defined as conducting research supervised by an academic or line manager (e.g. graduate student, PhD candidate, early stage post-doc or equivalent in industry).
