Valérie Lengard Almli

Dr. Valérie Lengard Almli is Senior Scientist at Nofima – the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research - and Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). Her research field is consumer behaviour and sensory science, with current interests on behavioral change towards a more sustainable society (household food waste reduction and recycling), sensory shelf-life, and consumers’ food product acceptance and choice. In earlier research she has deepened in taste sensitivity and children’s learning mechanisms for a healthy and varied diet. She currently leads and participates in multiple national and European research projects, with close interdisciplinary collaboration with microbiologists and packaging scientists. At NMBU, she teaches courses in sensory and consumer science and supervises MSc and PhD theses. Valérie is a member of the European Sensory Science Society (E3) and of the European Sensory Network (ESN), where she serves in the scientific committee. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed papers and several book chapters. She holds an MSc in Food Science and Sensometrics from ENITIAA, Nantes, France (1998, now Oniris) and a PhD in consumer science from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Ås, Norway (2012). Her professional experience before joining the world of research includes roles as Chemometrics consultant, Product manager, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Technology Officer in the statistical software group CAMO AS.
