Paula Varela, Nofima AS, Norway
Paula Varela is Food Engineer from Universidad de la República (Uruguay) and PhD from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain). She is Senior Researcher in Sensory and Consumer Sciences at Nofima (Norway) and Associate Professor in Sensory and Consumer Sciences at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. She has wide experience in academic and industrial research, and worked in collaboration with research groups from Europe, Asia and South America. She has authored more than 100 articles in international journals, various book chapters and numerous presentations in scientific meetings. In the last years, her research has focused on the exploration of new methodologies to further understanding consumer perception, in particular sensory descriptive techniques and the influence of non-sensory parameters in consumers’ food choice. Paula has co-authored and co-edited three books on methodological aspects of consumer research.
